In 2009 Brawn GP and Button created a surprise by winning the 1st Grand Prix in Australia, followed by 5 victories in Malaysia, Bahrain, Spain, Monaco and Turkey. The Englishman took nine podiums throughout the season, while his team-mate Barrichello won the European and Italian Grand Prix. Over the course of the season, the team won 8 out of 17 races, with a total of 15 podiums. However, from the British Grand Prix onwards, the team had to contend with Red Bull's comeback and achieved fewer victories and podiums.

At the end of the season, Jenson Button and Brawn GP won the Drivers' and Constructors' World Championship titles.
